We honor this sacred lineage, recognizing that our ability to bring ceremonial cacao to the world is deeply rooted in the knowledge and practices preserved by these communities.

Reciprocity: A Commitment Beyond Fair Trade
We believe in reciprocity as a profound act of mutual exchange, where respect and balance are woven into every aspect of our work. Our commitment to ethical sourcing goes beyond the standard Fair Trade practices. We ensure that the dedicated smallholder Maya family farmers, who are deeply rooted in their heritage, are fairly compensated for their labor and resources. By paying on average 125% more than the West African commodity price for our cacao, we ensure that the benefits of this sacred plant flow back to the source, sustaining their livelihoods and empowering their communities.
But our commitment doesn’t stop at fair pricing.
We actively give back to the Maya communities through direct donations,– supporting the promotion of organic and sustainable cacao farming, protecting their lands, and preserving their rich cultural traditions. Every year, the Herbal Cacao Family personally visits these communities, reinforcing our deep connection and commitment to their well-being.
Giving Back: 2% for the Farmers!
To further our commitment to reciprocity, Herbal Cacao is proud to give back 2% of our annual profits to support the Maya communities.
Additionally, we now also offer a special opportunity for our customers to contribute directly to the restoration of these sacred lands. For just €4.50, you can now add a Baby Cacao Tree to your order. These trees will be personally planted by us,- The Herbal Cacao Family, during our visits to Belize, helping indigenous families rebuild their lands after devastating wildfires.
