🌱 Cacao Origin | Alta Verapaz, Guatemala

Our cacao is organically and ethically sourced from Indigenous Q’eqchi’ Maya communities in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, a region known for cacao carrying ancient Criollo genetics blended naturally with subtle Trinitario notes. Cultivated beneath the rainforest canopy within biodiverse agroforestry systems, the cacao reflects generations of traditional farming knowledge and deep respect for land and culture.

The cacao beans are sun-dried, hand-sorted, and stone-ground, preserving their depth of flavour, aroma, and ceremonial character from harvest to cup.

Chaga mushroom is included as part of this ceremonial cacao blend as a traditionally valued mushroom, chosen for its deep, earthy character and natural harmony with cacao. It allows the cacao and spices to remain at the forefront while adding depth and balance to the blend’s overall character.

In Divine Strength, we source a concentrated dual-extracted 15:1 Chaga extract from a family-run operation located within a national forest in Estonia. This wild-harvested Chaga mushroom is crafted using both water and alcohol extraction methods, which ensures capturing the full character of the mushroom while integrating smoothly into cacao-based ceremonial preparations

High in the cloud forests of Alta Verapaz, cacao is cultivated by Q’eqchi’ and Poqomchi’ Maya communities for whom cacao has long held ceremonial and cultural significance. This region, referenced in the Popol Vuh, is a place where cacao is grown with patience, attentiveness, and deep respect for the land that sustains it.

Our cacao from Alta Verapaz is sourced through FEDECOVERA, a respected Indigenous cooperative that brings together thousands of Maya farmers working within biodiverse, sustainable agroforestry systems. Through this collaboration, farmers gain access to education, healthcare, and technical support, strengthening community well-being while protecting ancestral traditions and the rainforest ecosystems they steward.

Step 1: Choose your dosage:
10-20 grams = Regular serving
20-30 grams = Meditative serving
30-50 grams = Ceremonial serving

Step 2: Add warm liquid. Warm up your water, (plant) milk, or tea on low heat (75-80°C). Then, add your dosage of cacao to your favourite cup.

Step 3: Mix, blend, or whisk. This product is unsweetened (containing naturally occurring sugars). Feel free to add any sweeteners/herbs/spices of your choice.

Note: The cacao is already potently spiced with: Cayenne pepper, Ceylon cinnamon and Vanilla.

Cacao is always best when consumed straight after opening and when shared with loved ones. Otherwise, you best off storing it in a cool and dry place far far away from any other cacao lover 😉 

Important to note to keep your cacao away from moisture so you can prolong the shelf life to two years or even longer!

Additionally, ceremonial cacao, being a natural product without the preservatives often found in commercial chocolate, may be more susceptible to changes in texture over time as its a very sensitive for moist and temperature change! However if your cacao is melted it is still oke to use and still contains all its properties.
